BE IN OUR VIDEO FOR “PEACE!”

We are reaching out to YOU, as a member of our Earthly community, to join us in this groundbreaking music video making venture. Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros are teaming up with The Department of Peace to create a new kind of music video.

We are asking YOU to be a part of a music video we are making for the song “Please!” and be a part of a global community of people making a common plea for PEACE on EARTH and LOVE to all mankind.

It is very easy to participate. All you need to do is one of these 3 things:

1. Film yourself singing along or lip-syncing to the song on either your laptop, an iPhone or similar device, and send the file to thedeptofpeace@gmail.com. Please name your file with your first and last name.

2. Film yourself doing an action that you feel embodies the idea of PEACE or the idea of LOVE. This can include kissing, hugging, making out, dancing, frolicking, meditating, general merry-making, helping a neighbor or a stranger, joining a peaceful protest, creating your own peaceful protest, taking a stand on an issue you care about, etc. Feel free to include children, family members and pets.

3. Make a sign of your favorite word or line from the song and film yourself with it.

Video must be recorded HORIZONTALLY or we cannot use it!

*Recording instructions and lyrics can be found here. The song can be downloaded on iTunes or you can listen to it on Soundcloud.

Be sure to wear colorful clothing and flowers in your hair, and wear something that makes you happy! Face paint and body paint are also encouraged. Take your laptop, iPhone or recording device to your favorite place and film yourself doing something you LOVE. The most important thing is to have FUN with this as we will only be using a few seconds of each person’s submission.

Feel free to pass along this invite to anyone you think would want to participate including friends in other countries. We want this to be as global as possible!

A little bit of background:

The Department of Peace is an organization geared toward creating consciousness-raising content and inspiring young people toward political participation and community-oriented action. Made up of Maximilla Lukacs, Sarah Sophie Flicker, Tennessee Thomas and Rebecca Fernandez, The Department of Peace are the women behind these three very successful videos that you may have seen over the past year:

You Don’t Own Me” featuring Tavi Gevinson, Lena Dunham and endorsed by Lesley Gore, was created for women’s rights just before the 2012 election.

Don’t Frack My Mother” created in collaboration with Sean Lennon and Yoko Ono, raised awareness for the potential fracking hazards in the state of New York.

Village Green Preservation Society" was a collaboration with The Rainforest Alliance for Earth Day and featured Maggie Gyllenhaal and Alex Ebert of Edward Sharpe.

We look forward to seeing your submissions!

THE DEADLINE IS AUGUST 12, 2013

Much love,

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros

LYRICS TO PLEASE!

Joy, joy is the giving give to everybody

Joy, joy

War, war is the ego of man’s repressed libido

Love, love

Feel me love

Hear, me love

See me love

Please

Please, please!

Love, love is the mother

God, god is the human

You, the generator

Please, please

Peace, peace is the giving

A piece for everybody

Please, please

Feel, you love

Hear, you love

See you love
